Mrs. Kelly Karas

Mrs. Kelly Karas teaches Health and Physical Education.
Mrs. Karas grew up in Centreville. She earned her BS in physical education with a health endorsement at George Mason University and her MEd in School Leadership with an administration endorsement at Marymount University. Before coming to PVI, she worked in Fairfax County Public Schools.

In her free time, Mrs. Karas loves creating art or any kind of crafting or building. She also enjoys reading, baseball, and spending quality time with her family. Mrs. Karas' favorite quote is, “Talent is God-given…Be Humble; Fame is Man-given…Be Thankful; Conceit is Self-given…Be Careful.” - John Wooden. She says that at PVI, there is a family atmosphere and everyone looks out for each other. Her favorite saint is Rose of Lima.

The Priorities Logo Project is her favorite lesson to teach, stating, ”It is important for students to realize that conceptualizing hierarchy, deciding importance, sorting commitments, and managing time is a super organizational tool and life skill. Understanding the definition of the word and determining their own list of personal priorities allows them to schedule and adjust their activities to achieve their goals. This lesson enhances creativity, teaches students to think outside of the box, contributes to ownership and proactive control over their decision-making, and has a positive mental and emotional effect on students, encouraging growth and maturity in Mind, Body, & Spirit."
