PVI Girls Soccer Team is WCAC Champs!

On Sunday, November 3, 2024, PVI Girls Soccer defeated Bishop O'Connell 1-0 to win their first WCAC Championship since 2016.
On Tuesday, October 29, the 3rd-seeded Panthers hosted Bishop Ireton in the quarterfinals, coming away with a 6-1 victory, setting up a rematch at St. John's in the semifinals. With a tremendous effort from all the players, the Panthers reversed the result from two weeks earlier in front of an enthusiastic St. John's crowd, earning a 1-0 victory to move on to the WCAC finals on Sunday, November 3, against the top-seeded O'Connell Knights at Carlini Field at Catholic University on a beautiful afternoon.

The Panthers scored an early goal in the 10th minute of the game, and played organized and disciplined defense the rest of the way, repelling several attacks and holding O'Connell scoreless the rest of the game. When the final whistle sounded, the Panthers became the 2024 WCAC Champions and celebrated with family and friends as they lifted the trophy. This is the program's first WCAC Championship since 2016!

Congratulations to the girls for their committed effort to avenge the season's two regular season losses against St. John's and O'Connell to take the title! A gratifying payoff after a special season of working and growing together. Well done!
